I traced the scales out on a block of wood and then traced the liners out within that. It actually hasn't been that difficult.so far. Assuming I can get the screws figured out, the plan is to dye the wood, treat it with boiled linseed oil, seal it with dewaxed shellac and then finish it with lacquer. I don't think they'll be very durable, but I think they'll stand up to light use. I'll post pictures if the scales work out. It won't look as good, but I'm thinking I may have to get pan head screws instead of trying to countersink them. Even then, I'll probably have to trim the screws to get them perfect. I haven't finalized the thickness of the scales so I'll probably have to get a few different lengths of each. I think the scale screws are 4-40 and the pocket clip screws are 2-56.
